My review for Nokia Lumia 900

So I have been using Nokia Lumia 900 for last 3 days. People who doesn’t know, Nokia Lumia series is flagship device of Nokia, a hope for Microsoft to make their place in smartphone competition and ATT’s strategy to capitalize on the hope that WP7 will become as popular as iPhone did. ATT made good money by having iPhone exclusive to them, but they lost have market edge when Apple gave Iphone to verizon and sprint. So ATT wants to use Nokia/WP7 to get their edge back. I am thinking they should get more Android choices. Android made Verizon No 1 carrier in US, it made Sprint come back on the charts again.

The hardware is awesome, I have never used any HTC/Samsung/Motorola/Apple device which can compare to Nokia Lumia in hardware. The feel and look is so rich, its awesome. The screen is just AMOLED (as compared to Samsung’s popular SAMOLED+), but look so much better. The colors are really good. I used my Lumia for a day and when I looked in my Samsung Captivate the colors were so faded. The body is rich and look so solid. The only negative is, its little bit heavy. I would spend 1000 bucks if Nokia start launching phones with Android.

The software is WP7 and whatever people say about the smoothness of WP7 or easy to use, I will say I miss Android every time I try to do anything on this phone. It took me 2 days to import my Google contacts properly to this phone. I miss my favorite android games like Scramble free, Words with friends, draw something etc…No widget means no way to check the weather. No notification bar to check the new notification. I have to click on the top top see if I have data/wifi or not. No easy toggle to change the sound to silent or turn on vibrate. If i click on the text option on the number in the phone book, it doesn’t ask me which app i want to use. Bing search is so unhelpful, I have to go to Google all the time. Refreshing things are Nokia apps like Nokia maps and drive. I am  that kind of person who changes his home screen everyday. Surprise, I can’t in WP7 phone, I can change the color of the tiles..but that’s not same.

I think, Nokia should hire in house developers to develop WP7 themselves, if that’s what they really think their future is. I think using this phone made me want to buy Nokia N9, which got Android ICS running on it.

Why Hate Social Networking?

I have been moved from writing blog to reading blog and specially giving them unwanted feedback :p. Now I follow like more than dozen blog and of course all of them are funny and meaningful. So today, I got inspired from some of the post I read against Facebook and Twitter.

Why do people hate social networking? I think its such a great technology. I have accounts on almost all popular social networking. But I mainly follow facebook, twitter and used to follow Orkut. They are great, have such a great marketing potential. Every new business from a small time hotel to state transportation agency to every tom, dick and harry has twitter account. They tweet and we follow, or how would I know that the bus/train I catch everyday will be late today.

Lets see why we should all have facebook accounts. Now I know how many of friends take shower and how many times. I know who is in relationship, who broke up and why. Who is moving where and why. Also who shitted thier pants, and who is having sexual problems in their life. These things are so important to know, do you have any Idea. So we need Facebook to have a laugh from time to time on our friend’s expanses. On serious note, I have connected to so many old friends and some unknown friends who I some times wonder what they are doing in their life. I can also brag about my lifestyle, new job, new girl friend to every one I have ever known since I was old enough to make friends. There are many girls (guys), who creates a facebook profile to posts naked or exotic pictures (of girls) and apparently your friends and cousins adds them and tag themselves to let everyone in their friend list see them.  Have you ever wonder about so many home-made funny videos on Youtube? Well facebook gave them another platform to share their hard work and let us laugh a little.

Now you were just hating Facebook and Twitter right? Well bad news people, we have new social networking monster now called Google +(plus). It’s the integration of Orkut (which died few months ago), Facebook, Twitter, Skype and some other web technologies. Its gaining popularity as it has everything in on one page and it has many more cool features. Best part of Google plus? NO ADS!!…So you will not be tempted by stupid dating site adds with hot girls who apparently wants you badly.

We are just consumers of Web. We learned social networking from Orkut (Myspace for my fellow americans), moved on to Facebook, had some fun on Twitter now exploring Google Plus. Companies will continue to innovate new methods to keep us interested and we will continue to share our personal life with others….So either hate it or enjoy it…your choice…

We Indians Rock!! :)

It was the first day of a school in USA and a new Indian student named Chandrasekhar Subramanian entered the fourth grade.

The teacher said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American History. Who said ‘Give me Liberty , or give me Death’?”

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Chandrasekhar, who had his hand up:?’Patrick Henry, 1775′he said.

‘Very good! Who said ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?”

Again, no response except from Chandrasekhar. ‘Abraham Lincoln, 1863′ said Chandrasekhar.

The teacher snapped at the class, ‘Class, you should be ashamed. Chandrasekhar, who is new to our country, knows more about our history than you do.’

She heard a loud whisper: ‘F*** the Indians,’

‘Who said that?’ she demanded. Chandrasekhar put his hand up. ‘General Custer, 1862.’

At that point, a student in the back said, ‘I’m gonna puke.’

The teacher glares around and asks ‘All right! Now, who said that?’ Again, Chandrasekhar says, ‘George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.’

Now furious, another student yells, ‘Oh yeah? Suck this!’

Chandrasekhar jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, ‘Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997′

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said ‘You little shit. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you.’ Chandrasekhar frantically yells at the top of his voice, ‘ Michael Jackson to the child witnesses testifying against him, 2004.’

The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, ‘Oh shit, we’re screwed!’ And Chandrasekhar said quietly, ‘I think it was Lehmann Brothers, November 4th, 2008′.

Funny Instance in Day to Day life

NYC is full of different people, and you different stuff everyday. Out of which many are pretty funny. So I am back with some Funny and Interesting Instance I saw in last few weeks.

1) I listen to local Radio station called 92.3 Now. The RJs are pretty funny and they play all pop and Hip-hop. There is a section, where, if you want a GF you can call the Radio and announce it on radio. Like Describing yourself and what kinda GF you are looking for. So ther other day, this women calls for a Girl for his 19 year old son. She goes about how her son he is home for summer and wants her (mother) to find GF for him. She describes him as 5’8, cute looking boy. The girl should not be not tall, as my son is not tall. LOL. Than after everything she goes “Also my daughter told me to say that He loves boobs”. I was like HA HA HA. I am just wondering, how she came to know that. Its pretty obvious how a young girl knows that her  young, desperate 19 year old brother loves boobs. LOL…whats pretty funny was how this lady announces that on radio. Welcome to US of A.

2) So I use Path Train to go home, which is in Jersey City. Jersey City is full of Afro-Americans (what!!, I am not recist at all :P ), Latinos and Indians. So when I got up on train at WTC, I saw a hot latino girl sitting in the train and two seats on her left were empty. An Indian hero, comes sees here and there, and sit next to her with a huge smile on his face  (which came after finding a empty seat besides a hot girl). Even though, there were other empty seats.  He looked pretty happy and I could see the sturggle in him to talk to that girl. Suddenly a fat, black women comes and sit to his left. LOL. He got little annoyed at her, as she took all her seat and little bit of his too. He made a face at her (Black Beauty), but was not complaining much as he got to sit with a hot girl on his right. On the next station, hot girl got up and another Fat, Black women came and took her seat. You should have seen the face of this Indian guy haha. This other women also took half of his seat, to adjust her big ass. He was looking like a sandwich made of fill size chocolate bread. Pretty Funny lol

3) Do you know every Taxi driver in NYC is Indian? Ok all, but 95%. Do you know it costs 6 Lacs Dollars to buy a taxi License in NYC, which was just few hundereds 20 yrs ago? See wherever we go, we create a healthy competition for everything possible.

There are many more, will update soon.

If India become next USSR

Everyday when I read news from Mumbai, one thought comes to my mind. Why is this happening? what is motive behind it?  yes, I am talking about all this new ideology of Shiv Sena and MNS. What do they want man? One thing is sure they don’t want anything for people, they want everything for themselves. Shiv Sena started with Ideology of Hindutva, which was acceptable to some extent. But what happened to them now? They know that this protest against North Indian is not going to work anyway, they are not so important that North Indians will just go back to the same miser life they had in their villages. They did the same thing to south Indians and Muslims. The result is what, Mumbai still has same number of south Indians and Muslims, no change except Shiv Sena came to power once at least.  If they want to come in power again, why don’t they make some good strategies like Narender Modi, who is most hated, but most successful political figure in BJP today.  Hitting people because they are taking oaths in national language is not going to do them any good. The best part is there are no action against them. What is going to happen to India man?

We all know because of political unrest in USSR, it  fell apart into new countries. Not same, but similar unrest can be seen in India too. Its good that common people are not supporting this maniacs, other wise India would have also fell  apart into many new countries. Just think about it, how possible it can be. North eastern part of India is already against mainland India and they already consider themselves as a independent nations. South Indian states like Tamil Nadu were always against Hindi speaking people, as they didn’t wanted Hindi to become national language. In Punjab, there was always a protest to make a different country called Khalistan. Kashimir already has its own issue and only solution to thier problem, can be making Kashmir an Independent nation. Just imagine the situation, if India divides into different nations and to go to other states, you will need visa.

A very similar thing is predicted for US by an Russian Scholar, Igor Panarin. He has been predicting that U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument — that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. — very seriously. Now he’s found an eager audience, people are actually taking him seriously.  California will form the nucleus of what he calls “The Californian Republic,” and will be part of China or under Chinese influence. Texas will be the heart of “The Texas Republic,” a cluster of states that will go to Mexico or fall under Mexican influence. Washington, D.C., and New York will be part of an “Atlantic America” that may join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states Prof. Panarin calls “The Central North American Republic.” Hawaii, he suggests, will be a protectorate of Japan or China, and Alaska will be subsumed into Russia.

Just imagine the same thing happening to India. One nation will comprise of North east states for sure. One south Indian nation will take AP, TN, Kerela and Karnatka. Gujrat, Maharashta and Goa will become one peaceful country. Punjab, Haryana, HP, Rajasthan will make nation. Delhi will be capital of nation comprising UP, Uttranchal and MP.  West Bangal, Orrisa and Jharkand may become on country. I am not sure about Bihar, it can go to any of the above two nations, or may be there will be a fight for not claiming it as their territory. After all,  Who wants most corrupted state in India? who wants to Lalu again?

This all is just my imagination, and is all from my mind. But you can’t ignore the possibilities of anything. Mr. Igor Panarin is great scholar, so he gave the names also to the new US countries, but I am not so creative also to give names to these different countries. I divided them on the basis of culture. But the question is, will this immigration issue will resolve even after that? We have many illegal immigrants from Nepal and Bangladesh now, so how many we will have that time? Just think about it and give your valuable comments.

My First Summer in US

Summer in US is horrible. Actually every season is US in horrible. In winters it gets to -25 degree  C and when your body gets accustomed to such a low temperature , then comes summer. The summers are not that “hot” or “humid” as in India. But as I told you our body become used to low temperatures so, 30 degree is also very hot. The sun rays have high ultraviolet rays here. That is why sun burn people are very common sight in US. Thanks to my brown color, at least my skin is not so sensitive, see these are the times when you really feel that being fair is not so fair.

The story doesn’t end here, there are summer holidays in US, so all schools and colleges are closed. There are some summer courses offered mainly for outside people and some for regular student. As there are no students, so students job. So people generally find some jugad for them or go to India/their home.  Now I didn’t wanna go to india, as it was just 4 months in US and if I would have gone also, every one would have asked “arre itni jaldi wapis bhi aa gaya” and will make a serious, disgustingly surprising face. I have expereinced same reaction when I was in Engg college.

So I decided to go to one of the mini Gujrat of US. Yes, we have a many little gujrats in US.  Mind you, its not little India, its little gujrat. A place, which looks like some suburb of Mumbai, full of desis and Indian shops. This place is called Jersey City or Jholar city, as you can get everything done here without any problem. For example, getting a new iPhone with T-Mobile card, getting driving license without giving driving test etc etc.  You will be surprised to find everything here, means everything an Indian miss/wants in US. There so many Indian restaurants here, you get all types of food and with all price ranges. I really liked some of them, there is a new one called “Horn Ok Please”, its of Newark ave or commonly known as Indian Street. Its ethnic punjabi dhaba type restaurant, with somewhat same feel, taste and most surprisingly price.

I spent 3 months in jholar city and learned many things. Some of which are, most of the Indian business here are owned by patels, there are so many people working here without legal status from years, all students work off campus and manage to earn their fees, Spanish people are like Nepalis in India, they do all the labor and hard work here, there more Spanish in US than Desis without legal documents.

Overall It was nice experience, but jersey city is one place, where I don’t want to spend rest of my life.

The Dead Donkey!!

City boy, Raj, moved to the village and bought a donkey from an old
farmer for Rs.1000. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next
day.
The next day the farmer drove up and said, “Sorry Raj-ji, but I have
some bad news. The donkey died while I was bringing him here.”
Raj replied: “Well then, just give me my money back.”
The farmer said: “Can’t do that either. I went and spent it already.”
Raj said: “OK then, just unload the donkey.”
The farmer asked: “What you are going to do with a dead donkey?!”
Raj: “I’m going to raffle him off.” (Note: Raffle is like lottery – a
group of people draw lots each paying the same amount for a ticket and
there is a big prize for the people who win.)
Farmer: “You can’t raffle off a dead donkey!”
Raj: “Sure I can. Watch me. I just won’t tell anybody he’s dead.”
A month later the farmer met up with Raj and asked, “What happened with
that dead donkey?”
Raj: “I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at Rs.10 each and made a
profit of Rs.4990 with the donkey worth Rs.1000 as the prize.”
Farmer: “Didn’t anyone complain?”
Raj: “Just the guy who won. So I gave him back his Rs.10″

Moral of the story – No situation is so bad that it cannot be turned around. You need to just think hard.

A little boy

Once a boy went to a shop with his mother. The shop keeper looked at the small cute child and showed him a bottle with sweets and said ‘Dear Child.. u can take the sweets… but the child didnt take. The shop keeper was surprised.. such a small child he is and why is he not taking the sweets from the bottle. Again he said take the sweets.. Now his mother also heard that and said.. ”beta take the sweets..” yet he didnt take. The shopkeeper saw that the child was not taking the sweets.. So he himself took the sweets and gave to the child.. The child was happy to get two hands full of sweets.. When they returned home, his Mother asked him.. Why didnt you take the sweets when shop keeper told you to take.. The child said.. ”Mom, my hands are very small and if i take the sweets from my hands then i can only take few.. but now you see when uncle gave with his big hands, how many more sweets i got!!”

Moral: When we take, we may get little but when God gives, he gives us more then our expectations. … more than what we can hold.

God has got ten hands. If He wants to take
away from you, with two hands how much you will protest? And when He wants to give you with ten hands, with two hands how much you will
take it?

Decisions of Life

Its so difficult to take decisions in life. I am talking about those  decisions which can change your life completely. The decisions which can take your life to new level. The decisions which can make your life hell. Every one have experienced this situation sometimes in their life.. I came US to pursue higher studies. I have left so many things for it. My family, friends, beloved country and a very high salaried job in a very good company. But I still think about this decision. Is this is the good decision or the bad one?

Who can judge it? On what basis one can judge any decision? Lets take my case only, If I would have been still in India, working in same company, having same life. It was very comfortable life, morning 8 to evening 5 job, really nothing much to do in the office. Just go there, fool around, gupshup with friends all day, lunch outside all most all days,  cutting chai in late afternoon,   weekends full of movies, hanging out with friends or long ride on my bike. What complains I had? Nothing. But than also I left all those days to do what, Struggle again. Here I am in US, struggling every second. First struggle with studies, then to work for survival. Sometimes I think is it really worth? People say that its just a matter of 2 years of student life, after that its only aish. The economic and job scenario of US makes it difficult to believe them. I know many students who graduated in December 2008 or after that, they are struggling so much to get a job. Most of them are doing off campus jobs like working in stores or as waiters. Some are smart to extend their student visa and still enjoy on campus job. Some are just sitting at home and wasting thier parents money. Just imagine a guy, having Becholars and Masters in Engineering, working as waiter or counter person in a store and getting mentally harassed by some Desi illiterate boss, who has come illegally here and setup a shop somehow.

I think I lost the track here, my real question was to decide that the decisions we take are good or bad. If you take everything positively and believe in god, then you can say that every decision taken by you is God’s decision and its always right. Lets again take my case. In India, I had a comfortable life, doing nothing and getting good money, but no future and boredom like anything. The positive facts of my coming to US are: Got a good university with lots of Gori hot babes:Rich university, so got on campus job easily(Some people never gets jobs both on and off campus for over 6 months) and no nagging desi boss:got to see a completely new country and new experience:good chances of getting good job (if Obama magic works):and some more things which I can not mention here ;) .

So I think every decision is good when you take it, the results can make it right or wrong. But god do everything for good. I got admission in SU, which is not very good for Computer Engineering. I got transfer to Information management, is which SU is ranked One in US. If I would have applied directly, I would have never got it. So see god do everything for good.

Moral of the story: Just believe in god and do whatever you feel is right, without thinking too much about it.

Life is set

Its a very comferting line. I feel so happy when ever I say these lines ” My life is set”. I remember from my tenth standard, when my father used to say, get good marks in Tenth so that you can get a good college and you life will be set. I got good marks, got good college. Now came 12th std, again the same line”get good marks in twelfth so that you can get a good engineering college and you life will be set”. This time I didnt get good marks, just got decent marks and got some engineering college. Now it was my turn to think those lines. I always used to think that if I get a good job in good company, phir kya life is set. I even got a good job, a very good salary and literally no work.  But even now also life was not set as we thought it should be. So I planned to go US, land of oppurtunity, to get advance studies.  I got in good college, New york, good major and again I thought “ab kya life is set”. After coming to US, again  I saw there are so many people and life is not set now also. Its a ver funny situation,  I always remember one story told by my friend.

” There was a very rich lady, she was in a jail for some random reason. She tried to get out of the prison many times, and she used all the ways she can. She even used money and influence to get out but wasn’t succeeded.  At last she planned to break out using all her mental power. She saw that when ever someone dies in prison, the gaurds put the body in the coffin and no one checks it except jailer. So she bribes jailer to let her go in the coffin along with the body and then he will come after 2 hours to dig her out from the grave. Everything was planned properly and she was very happy. She thought that now “her life is set“. So accordingly when the next person died, she went into the coffin and the prison guards buried the coffin. When she was in the grave along with body, she thought now as her life is set, she will be free person and now she can enjoy her money. She thought I should at least thank this dead person, as he helped me get out. She turns and see to get shocked that the dead person was none other then the jailer itself.

So never say my life is set, because life is full of problems and surprises. Always make a plan B, because 90% times, plan A fails.
